Will this start a F-250 Diesel? My new batteries are junk and need more CCA power, around 1100. I believe this will work but not sure. It gets cold.
I sometimes have to start large Volvo and Scania Diesel 24V engines (6-9liters) with completely dead batteries. If I use the booster pack directly at the starter it usually works. I would not mind a bit more capacity, but the question is if I would be able to carry it with me. I charge it with the built in 110/230v charger in my car, so It’s always 100% full. I have never had any problem starting petrol engines, not even when It has been cold, and the booster pack has been left uncharged for weeks. To my knowledge, this is the best one available on the market.
Would this still work on small engines?
Yes, it can be used for 12v or 24v, one setting at a time. This is a must for big engines. If you only need a jump box for small engines, you may want to look at the jnc 660. I own 2 660s and 1 1224 (second one), both are great!
How long well the charge last when not plug in?
Depends on temp and how much you use it. I live in Fairbanks, AK and when the temps get below -40 it seems to only be able to just gas powered trucks after a week or so of use and being out in the cold truck. I have honestly started 10 cars, 3 gas trucks, and 1 diesel. In one week at -40s and not recharged it. But I normally try to keep in plugged in so it’s warm and ready whenever needed. It’s strong enough to start a bobcat at -40 blew my mind.
