Am I able to charge this unit with a portable solar power panel & run my laptop on it for at least two hours?
The battery in this is a “22 amp/hour”, so it should be able to give you 22 amps for 1 hour, 11 amps for 2 hours, etc. If a laptop needs 1 amp at 120V AC (which is the same energy as 10 amps at 12V), it should last 2 hours. You want to keep a battery like this charged 99% of the time (or it loses it’s ability to hold a charge), so I hope you actually start with it charged, then recharge it ASAP after using your laptop or such. A solar panel can charge this, but I hope you realize how long it may take to fully charge it. If you have a “60 watt” solar panel set and connect this up, it will take at least 6 hours to charge it (which I get from saying 60 watts/15V charge power=4 amps charge supply and 22 amp battery/4 amps supplied=5.5 hours to fill it up). Other solar panels can be calculated how fast they’ll charge in a similar manor to that by just trading out the solar panels watts rating, coming up with a different charge amp supplied, and dividing that into the 22 amp/hour rating. Some solar panels (like ones I got) don’t even perform at 1/2 their labeled rating in what I’d call “ideal conditions” (not to mention cloudy conditions), so it may take a lot longer than what I said in reality.
Can the battery be replaced?
Yes, But it will be a long while for that. I worked for AAA for a little over a year and never had to put a new battery. I used it over 2000 times in a year. Now that I dont work for them anymore I got myself one of them for myself.
